Behind the Falls

Contextually the area of Coombs is of regimented design, we wanted to break away from that with a Biophilic design. Not only did Cox want to design a building that mimicked nature, we formed the building to act in a way which was sympathetic to something that’s alive. To accomplish this, natural elements such as air, water, landscapes and light were carefully considered.

We denoted the atrium the green lung of the suburb as it, along with matured trees provide breathing zones. The atrium allows the apartments to open in two directions, both outward and inwards to achieve cross ventilation, improving apartment living standards.
Molonglo Falls is unlike any other project in the Valley. Its soft exterior peels away from neighbouring apartments providing ample privacy. The organic form of the building responds to nature and water. A concept designed with an escarpment of tearing rocks in mind. Its free-flowing facade maximises the connection to sunlight.
The building’s cascade-like nature washes seamlessly into the waterfall feature. Water is a key element for creating therapeutic spaces, completing the Biophilic ecosystem. The smell and sound of the water crashing plays a beneficial role in connecting residents to real life landscapes.

A unique Biophilic free-flowing design creates a sympathetic relationship to the natural surrounds, aligning meticulously to Molonglo Valley’s appeal. Molonglo Falls’ greatest assets is its significant design attributes fixated around high-quality urban outcome.

Molonglo Falls high-quality cross ventilation is the first of its kind in Molonglo Valley ensuring apartment living that stays young. An exceptional design feature to set the project apart from most of the apartment opportunities in the Capital.

The design daring bathrooms create the ultimate space for relaxation. Feel the buildings Biophilic design move through the curvature in the bathrooms. The wall mounted vanity with 20mm stone tops to suit the kitchen selection have round above cabinet basins while the modern freestanding tubs add to the bathrooms appeal. By day natural light spills into the space, while after dark the integrated strip lighting ensures the perfect ambience. The tiled wall acts as a feature being bold in both shape and texture. The Kitkat style mosaics are imperfectly perfect, a standout design feature in either colour selection. A frameless showerscreen makes the space feel open, while ample bathroom storage is built into shaver cabinetry to provide function and ensure a seamless finish.
